I raced my first ever DH race in Croatia last weekend. I flew to Ljubljana, Slovenia, on friday night and drove down to Buzet, Croatia. On saturday i was able to do four training runs before qualifying and the track soon appeared to be one of the best tracks i have ever ridden. Very fast and proper downhill track. Qualification run was pretty good and i got 15th, not quite what i was expecting as i travelled there to get top five finish. Difference between me and fift was about 5 seconds though so that would be easily doable.
Before finals i did 3 runs even though i felt pretty comfortable after one run. I decided to not to waste good riding day as racetrack wasn't physical.
I got five seconds better time on finals with run i was happy with. Slovenians went so fast on Buzet racetrack and i wasn't able to do better than 12th amongst 175 participants. The winner of the race was only 18 years old slovenian Jure with amazing time, beating me by 11 seconds.
Still one of the best trips ever! So nice people and beautiful nature!
