I have been busy past few weeks so haven't been able to write here.
Here is something i have been doing to get ready for racing season.
Week ago i did very efficient downhill workout at Kalpis bikepark. I listed all the tracks i wanted to do non-stop and then i did it. 10X one track pedalling pretty hard, then pedalled all the way up and did the track once again tired, then i moved to another track non-stop and did it the same way 10 times. I listed 10 runs of slalom aswell but wasn't able to do it as i ran out of time and got tired.
time was 1h23min and average heart rate 153, max heart rate 199. Tuff one!
Then i did time trial race on road bike. I believe it was 11km and my time was about 17:40 (too lazy to find out exact time at the moment). That one i did with average heart rate of 188, so just about at my anaerobic treshold. I started with a bit too hard gear as i assumed we would start from the gate but as we did not, i couldn't get my pedal in instantly so i wasn't able to really power out of the start. Then i felt like my legs weren't working correctly, mainly because i spent last 3 days at summer cottage and may had had too many beers... At the half way point legs started to feel better and i was able to pedal harder without staring at the heart rate monitor all the time. Biggest problem was that the bike i borrowed, was size 58, and it had really long head tube, and i wasn't able to get handlebar even lower than saddle so i had to forget about aerodynamics. All and all it was good training and really fun, i would like to try ot once again before summer and maybe with specific time trial bike.
Then two days ago i was teaching HyPy cycling clubs new juniors how pull up front wheel and how to jump. HyPy throws this mtb school every spring and there is always about 40-60 juniors having fun. Kids were 6-12 years old and killing it.
