Multisport training

I have always thought that downhill mountainbikers should be training multiple sports to get best kind of endurance for DH. This is because DH is far from pretty much any other sport so we shouldn't adapt our bodies to any specific sport. I have been training cardio with nordic skiing, running, pole walking (did i wrote it correctly..?), mtb, road cycling, nordic walking on snow, rowing, crosstrainer, skateing, spinning, swimming  and every kind of way i come up with. That way i think my body more ready for every kind of new situations. This is especially important when living in Finland because we often don't have chance to do long DH runs.

That being said, i have been training quite alot with my cycling clubs triathlon athletes and AHH ladies cycling team riders Maija and Heini.

For example, two weeks ago we had badminton and climbing tournament with Heini and Maija, then again last friday i did roadbike workout with them. On this roadbike ride we did 30min warm up with heartrate about 130-140bpm and then 40mins fast and changeing leader in 1minutes intervals. I think this was very good way to train between aerobic and anaerobic treshold levels, heart rate was near aerobic treshold for 3mins in this case and then 1min really fast. Perfect for DH i think. I have got a lot of good ideas for my training regimen just by doing workouts with other athletes and i really recommend you to do the same.
